BJP Holds Strategic Meeting in Agartala Ahead of TTAADC Elections
In Agartala on Sunday, the BJP’s top leaders gathered at the state office for a key organisational meeting in front of Chief Minister Manik Saha. Senior figures, including State President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, discussed plans for upcoming party events and the next steps for strengthening the BJP’s presence across the state.
Bhattacharjee posted on X that the meeting included state office‑bearers, morcha presidents, chairpersons and district leaders. “We went over the next organizational actions and laid down clear directions for future work,” he said.
The gathering came as CM Saha held two private talks with Tipra Motha Party (TMP) chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma to discuss how well the “Tiprasa Accord” is being implemented. The accord, signed on March 2 last year in New Delhi with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to boost socio‑economic development for Tripura’s tribal communities.
When reporters asked for details, the CM said the meeting focused on the progress of the accord’s implementation. TMP founder‑chief Debbarma replied that the talks were “very positive” and that the parties will keep working together for tribal welfare.
With the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) approaching early next year, BJP leaders urged a thorough assessment of booth‑level strength in all tribal areas. The party has already appointed observers for each of the 28 TTAADC seats.
The upcoming TTAADC elections are crucial. Both the BJP and its tribal‑based partners – TMP and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) – are vying to broaden their influence among the state’s majority tribal population, which makes up about 84 % of TTAADC’s nearly 12.2 million residents.
