Video shows Nick Reiner casually buying drink inside gas station moments before arrest for parents’ murders
Video footage reportedly shows Nick Reiner calmly buying a drink at a gas station just minutes before he was arrested in connection with the brutal killing of his well-known director father and mother at their Los Angeles home.
According to a report, the 32-year-old appeared unsettlingly composed as he waited at the counter of a convenience store on Sunday night. A clip obtained by ABC7 shows Reiner standing in line, casually selecting a canned beverage and paying the cashier without showing any visible signs of distress.
In the video, Reiner is seen wearing jeans, a striped jacket, a baseball cap, and carrying a red backpack. He calmly reaches into his pocket to pull out his wallet and complete the purchase, moments before his encounter with police.
Authorities said the footage was captured shortly before Reiner surrendered to officers on a Los Angeles street located about 15 miles from the Brentwood mansion where his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, were allegedly killed.
Additional video obtained by The Post shows Reiner raising his hands as two police vehicles approached him around 9:15 p.m. Within seconds, more patrol cars arrived at the scene, and officers exited their vehicles with weapons drawn.
Reiner was forced to the ground and handcuffed on the pavement, according to separate photos that were later removed after being shared by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang and Narcotics Unit. He appeared to be wearing the same outfit seen earlier in the convenience store footage.
Another video reportedly shows Reiner walking calmly past a nearby gas station just before midnight on Saturday night — several hours before the killings allegedly took place early Sunday morning.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Rob and Michele Reiner had been dead for several hours before they were found by their daughter, Romy, on Sunday afternoon. Officials noted that rigor mortis had already begun to set in at the time of discovery.
Reiner is currently being held without bail and was reportedly placed on suicide watch following his arrest. He has been formally charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his parents.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to the shocking crime.
