BJP CEC meeting underway in Delhi to finalise Bihar poll strategy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew into New Delhi on Sunday to join the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Central Election Committee meeting. The gathering was aimed at finalising the party’s plan for the Bihar Assembly polls coming up in November.

Modi walked into a room full of senior leaders. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national chief JP Nadda, ex‑Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa, ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Nityanand Rai, and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were all present. Bihar’s own Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also joined the discussion.

The meeting marked a key moment for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as it announced its seat‑sharing plan for the 243‑member Bihar Assembly. According to the deal, the BJP and Janata Dal (United) will each contest 101 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram‑Vilas) will fight 29 seats, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha will each get six seats. The split was shared on the X platform by Bihar BJP chief Vinod Tawde, who highlighted the unity and readiness of the alliance.

Speaking on X, LJP chief Chirag Paswan said, “Bihar is ready – an NDA government will be formed again.” Dharmendra Pradhan and Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader Upendra Kushwaha also posted the finalised seat allocation.

The election will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting on November 14. The NDA faces the INDIA bloc, made up of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, CPI(ML) Liberation, CPI, CPI(M) and the Vikasheel Insaan Party. This year, political strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party will also join the contest.

In the current assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats – BJP 80, JDU 45, HAM 4, and two independents – while the opposition bloc controls 111 seats, led by RJD’s 77 seats, Congress’s 19, and smaller parties. The upcoming polls could reshuffle Bihar’s political landscape once again.
