Kentucky woman receives package of human ‘arms and fingers’ instead of medicine delivery
A woman in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, received a mystery delivery that turned out to be severed human arms and fingers. The package was meant for surgical training in Nashville, but it was mistakenly delivered to the woman’s home. She called 911 the same day after opening the first box.
The woman expected urgent medication. When she opened the package, she found two boxes filled with well‑preserved body parts on ice, likely donated for transplant or medical training. She was shaken and did not want to hold parts that didn’t belong to her.
Emergency responders quickly involved the Christian County coroner, Scott Daniel. The coroner extracted two arms and four digits from the parcel and took them to the local morgue. A courier collected the limbs the next day, but the exact courier is still unknown.
The discarded body parts came from four separate bodies, the coroner said. They were originally sent from a Nashville facility intended for a school or hospital that uses cadaveric tissue for surgical education.
After the package was cleared, the woman received her time‑sensitive medications and medical supplies a day later. The coroner advised anyone in a similar situation to contact authorities immediately instead of handling or refrigerating the parts.
The incident highlights the importance of checking the contents of medical deliveries, especially when they come from unfamiliar sources. For now, the Coroner’s office has no further details on the package’s origin beyond its intended destination.
