Bihar: Parichari Sangh stages protest outside JD-U office in Patna

Ward Assistants Protest Outside JD-U Office in Patna Over Job and Salary Woes

Workers from the Parichari Sangh – think ward assistants, helpers, and other low-level staff in Bihar’s government and civic bodies – hit the streets in Patna on Monday. They gathered in huge numbers outside the JD-U office, demanding quick fixes for their long-standing problems. This Bihar protest has everyone talking, especially with the 2025 assembly elections on the horizon.

The group is fuming over the 2024 recruitment exam results. Officials have only released scores for 10-20 candidates, leaving thousands of others in limbo. "We’ve waited long enough," one protester told reporters. Many of these employees say they’ve been on the job since 2012, but their positions remain temporary. They don’t get steady salaries or job security, which makes life tough for these Bihar government employees.

Protesters accused the Nitish Kumar government of empty promises. "The administration keeps assuring us, but nothing changes," said a union leader. They even demanded a face-to-face meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying they’ve lost all trust in lower officials. The workers pointed out a frustrating pattern: every time they raise issues, the government gives them a seven-day deadline for action. But deadlines come and go, and progress stalls.

This isn’t their first showdown at the JD-U headquarters. Just last week, a similar protest turned ugly. Employees showed up with the same demands, leading to a clash with police. Things got so heated that officers had to use lathi charges to break up the crowd. No major injuries were reported, but it highlighted the growing frustration among contractual workers in Bihar.

As Bihar assembly elections 2025 draw closer, these repeated JD-U protests spell trouble for the ruling NDA government led by Nitish Kumar. Temporary employees like these form a big voter base, and their anger could sway the polls if the government doesn’t act fast. The Parichari Sangh has vowed to keep protesting until they get permanent jobs, full exam results, and fair pay.

Stay tuned for updates on this Bihar workers’ protest – it could shake up the political scene in Patna.
