Adult film star Scott Finn dead at 27 after cryptic final post about ‘hard year and a half’

The star—real name Rhett  Messerly—was highlighted by his family in an online obituary as a young man who was “immense capacity for accepting people for who they are” and who was a favourite among classmates.

While the exact reason for his death wasn’t disclosed, Finn had alluded to personal struggles in his most recent social‑media post.

In a selfie with a bold caption, he wrote, “Itss [sic] been a hard life the last year and a half with the devorce [sic] but im finally single again its been a while sence [sic] ive showed my fave [sic] so here you are,” sharing the image on X on June 18.

Finn entered the adult entertainment field in 2018, producing videos for gay sites such as Active Duty and Next Door Studios.

He candidly spoke of his bisexuality and often confronted trolls who accused him of being “gay‑for‑pay.” One reply in 2020 read: “Lol you have no idea who I am. I’m a sexual f–ker. I like men and wemon [sic]… I’ve had sex with one female in the last 3 years. And about 100 men.”

When the industry climate cooled last year, he pivoted toward cooking, launching new accounts to showcase his culinary interests.

According to his parents, Joel and Libby Messerly, Finn’s body was found on November 23, and a memorial service took place on December 4. They wrote in the obituary, “We find some comfort in knowing his pain here is over and he rests with his Heavenly Father again.”

Finn attended Weber High School in Pleasant View, where classmates described him as the “goofball” and the “handsome boy with nice muscles.” They added that he always brought a smile into the room.

In the tribute, his parents spoke about how he would be remembered for his “incredible capacity to help others,” especially women in need, whether by pulling a car out of the snow, sharing a meal, or offering comfort in difficult moments.

In a light‑hearted note about his reputation, the obit ended with, “He was quite the schmoozer” and that “you could bet that he had at least 65 girlfriends at all times.”
