CBI probe against KCR an insult to people of Telangana, says KTR

In a strong statement today, K.T. Rama Rao, the BRS leader and son of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), criticised the Telangana government’s decision to order a CBI investigation against KCR over the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. Rao called this move an insult to the people of Telangana — emphasizing that KCR’s leadership has brought significant benefits to the state.
KTR, as he’s popularly known, praised KCR for making Hyderabad water-secure and transforming Telangana with major irrigation projects like Mallanna Sagar and Kondapochamma Sagar. He argued that targeting KCR with false cases is a move by Congress and BJP to discredit him because they can’t accept his popularity and progress.
The BRS leader made these comments while welcoming senior Congress leader Prabhakar Rao and his followers into the BRS party, at KCR’s home in Erravalli. Rao highlighted how KCR has led Telangana to unprecedented growth in just ten years. Under his leadership, the state has become a major agricultural hub with projects like Kaleshwaram — the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme, which supplies water to millions of acres and villages.
Rao criticised Congress and BJP for trying to tarnish KCR’s reputation, accusing them of political conspiracy because they dislike the affection Telangana people have for him. He pointed out how the previous Congress-led government struggled with farmers, long queues for urea, and poor agricultural progress. In contrast, Telangana has moved from being 14th in Indian agricultural output in 2014 to a state leading in food production today.
He also took a swipe at Revanth Reddy, Telangana’s current Chief Minister, for making irresponsible remarks that he said diminish the dignity of the office. Rao reminded everyone that KCR supported the welfare of the people, even during tough times like the COVID pandemic, when revenues fell to zero. He highlighted KCR’s unwavering support for coal workers of Singareni Collieries, noting that most of their demands were met under his leadership.
Finally, Rao questioned why the BRS performed poorly in some constituencies despite all the support, calling for self-reflection among party leaders. Overall, he reaffirmed KCR’s commitment to Telangana’s development and criticised efforts to undo his achievements with baseless political cases.
