When the man explained that the post had landed him in hot water, Desourdy took the idea halfway and pitched it to her manager. The plan was simple: let women bond over their shared heartbreak while enjoying inexpensive drinks and a carefree environment.
The announcement went live on Instagram and blew up, drawing more than 600,000 views. Desourdy told Axios that the goal was just to have a good time—“We wanted to do something fun — God forbid (the girls) get a free drink”—and not to create a platform for airing grievances. Charlotte had been named the tenth most challenging place in the U.S. for dating in a 2022 ranking by BestPlaces, which Desourdy cited as a reason the city’s women were ready for a night of solidarity and laughter.
