Georgia mother accused of killing two newborn children 3 years apart
A 21‑year‑old mother in Georgia, Dakota Taylor, was taken into custody this Thursday on a slate of serious charges that include malice murder, felony murder and first‑degree cruelty to children, per a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
According to the agency, Taylor is believed to have suffocated her 7‑month‑old son, Micah, in September 2021 and later killed his 8‑month‑old brother, Caleb.
The two incidents are reported to have occurred in separate homes and “unlawfully and with malice aforethought,” the investigators said, causing the infants “excessive mental and physical pain.”
Taylor was already in jail on a different child‑death probe that began in DeKalb County after an earlier investigation in 2021.
The grand‑jury arrest warrant for the Caleb case lists the same motives and methods. Meanwhile, police body‑camera footage shows officers arriving at a group home where the mother had been bathing Micah upstairs before carrying him back downstairs to his swing, only for him to be found pale and unresponsive—a scene that left officers describing her as “nonchalant” as they handled the body.
Other witnesses from the Department of Family and Children Services noted a stark lack of empathy in Taylor’s attitude toward the tragedy. The tape at the scene read “POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS,” while the investigation remains open and active.
