Kerala CM Vijayan’s family except wife served ED notices

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1 (LatestNewsX) — In what has been called an unprecedented episode in Indian Communist circles, the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, has seen his entire household come under investigation, apart from his wife Kamala Vijayan.
Both of his children—daughter Veena and son Vivek—have been called before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and other agencies for questioning.
While the CPI‑M dismisses these actions as "politically motivated witch‑hunts," the notices have broadened to repeatedly target the CM’s family.
What began with the controversial SNC‑Lavalin case, still pending before the Supreme Court, has since expanded into a series of probes: a diplomatic‑channel gold‑smuggling inquiry, a Life Mission investigation, a dispute over monthly payments to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), and now the latest ED summons regarding the Masala Bond matter.
Veena’s company, Exalogic, is at the centre of allegations that it received money without delivering services, and she has already faced central inquiries.
Vivek was summoned by the ED on grounds that alleged financial links revealed during the Lavalin probe, including overseas payments for his education, were suspicious.
In response to the ED notice against CM Vijayan, Kerala Congress President and senior legislator Sunny Joseph dismisses it as a “masala to distract public attention from the Sabarimala‑related matters against the LDF government.”
He added that the move is part of a coordinated plan between the central and state governments meant to shield the chief minister during election time.
“Nothing new comes out of these adjustment politics, and this notice too will have the fate of a mountain giving birth to a mouse,” he mocked.
Even when former Principal Secretary to CM Vijayan, M. Sivasankar, was arrested in the gold‑smuggling case, investigations never extended to higher administrative levels or reached Cliff House.
With the Masala Bond case now implicating the chief minister himself, the legal and political stakes are higher than ever.
Only Kamala Vijayan has so far escaped the barrage of summons, leaving Cliff House caught between formal inquiries and symbolic significance.
