Agartala, Tripura – Tripura BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee fired back at a group of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders who recently toured the state.
Bhattacharjee said those TMC members had no moral right to come to Tripura right now, especially while “the relief work in their own state of West Bengal is ongoing.” He accused the TMC of corruption, noting the party’s ties to a large chit‑fund scam and other dishonest schemes.
The BJP said it only removed TMC flags and posters from state offices and that there was no attack on the rented premises. When the TMC delegation arrived, they asked for vehicles, a request they could have arranged through their own party. Bhattacharjee added that the TMC has no local support here in Tripura and struggled to gather even a modest crowd. Out of the six TMC representatives, the party needed at least 600 people for a proper event, he said.
Highlighting the TMC’s alleged history of violence, the BJP leader reminded people of past attacks, including a recent assault on a BJP MP in West Bengal. He pointed out that TMC’s leader has been accused of looting chit‑fund money and even has old ties with former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, criticizing how the party still promotes investments while engaging in questionable politics.
“People know what kind of people the TMC is,” Bhattacharjee claimed. “They talk about democracy, but their recent attack on a BJP MP shows their real face.” He said the TMC will never gain a foothold in Tripura because the state has no “protective shield” like West Bengal. Anyone crossing the border illegally is arrested – Tripura’s stance is clear.
He finished by stressing Tripura’s commitment to cultural harmony and the BJP’s political principles. “Our government always supports cultural exchanges with Bengal, but politically we stand firmly with the Bharatiya Janata Party,” Bhattacharjee said. ()
