MP: Model dies in suspicious circumstances in Bhopal, probe underway

Bhopal police are investigating the sudden death of a 27‑year‑old model who was being treated at a private hospital on Monday. The woman, Khusbu Ahirwar, was found unconscious during her travel back to Bhopal from Ujjain. Her boyfriend, Qasim Khan, who was with her, fled after taking her to the hospital, leaving staff and local police perplexed about what happened next.

Hospital staff notified police early on Monday, and the city’s Hamidia Hospital carried out an autopsy. After the post‑mortem, police handed Khusbu’s remains to her family. The case is now registered, and investigators have begun to follow up on the boyfriend and any other witnesses.

Khusbu’s mother, Laxmi Ahirwar, told police that her daughter was “brutally beaten to death.” She described multiple injury marks on the body, swelling on the face and injuries in sensitive areas. Laxmi demanded justice and strict punishment for whoever caused her daughter’s death.

Khusbu had left college after her first year and had been living in Bhopal with her boyfriend for the past few years. She worked as a local model and took part‑time jobs to support herself. Her parents say she had spoken about Qasim only once in a phone call with her sister, but had not mentioned him often. For three days before her death, the family could not reach her.

Police said they have the victim’s parents’ statements on file and will continue to trace Qasim. The investigation is ongoing, and any new information will be shared as it becomes available.
