Trump launches ‘powerful and deadly’ strikes on ISIS targeting Christians in Nigeria: ‘Terrorist Scum’
On Christmas Day, former President Donald Trump posted a video to Truth Social in which he claimed the United States had carried out “numerous” airstrikes in northwest Nigeria.
In the clip, Trump said the strikes were aimed at Islamic State affiliates “who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians” and that he had warned the insurgents of “hell to pay” if they continued such attacks.
He added that the Department of War had “executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing.”
The post also included a statement that “under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper,” and Trump ended with “MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”
The Trump administration’s claim has not been corroborated by any official U.S. military or diplomatic source. No information from the Pentagon, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, or independent defense analysts confirms an operation in Nigeria on that date, and Nigerian authorities have not reported any U.S. air strikes.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu was speaking in Brasília, Brazil, on August 25, 2025, while a separate Reuters photo shows the president in other official settings. According to AFP, a picture from Getty Images captured Trump’s announcement on Truth Social.
The story remains under investigation; readers are encouraged to check back for updates as reliable details become available.
