Alabama police get revenge on high school seniors who covered headquarters with toilet paper: ‘We don’t want to hear any crying’

In Heflin, Alabama, a senior prank turned the town’s police department into a white‑paper field for the Class of 2026. Late one night, high‑school seniors rolled tons of toilet paper over the police HQ, covering the front entrance, cruisers, and even the roof. The prank, designed to stick to the tradition of a bold senior stunt, sparked a quick and playful response from the local law enforcement.

Chief Ross McGlaughn, who had spent years dealing with student pranks, chose to answer back with a night‑time mission that felt more like a prank than a crime. He didn’t arrest the teenagers. Instead, he rallied a special task force of officers, volunteers and nearby agencies to stage a “toilet paper revenge” operation on Halloween night.

At 1 a.m. Oct. 29, the police team walked toward the students’ homes from a nearby road, keeping a low profile to avoid cameras and alarms. They then launched rolls of toilet paper over the rooftops and trees of three student houses. Drone footage showed sheets of white tissue cascading from branches onto roofs and street sides.

“Speed, surprise, and a little muscle work are all we needed,” Chief McGlaughn said on Facebook after the event. “We left no leader, nobody was caught—just a funny show for the town.”

The move was meant in good spirit. McGlaughn said his intent was “to keep the fun going and demonstrate that the police are part of the community.” He noted that the students had spent most of their money on bathroom paper, not drugs or alcohol.

Social media buzzed after the operation. The sudden whiteout turned soggy in the overnight rain, leading to playful jokes about the stunt’s failure. Yet the chief later reflected that the effort created a “Mona Lisa of rolling” for the few who appreciated the effort.

Students welcomed the police’s involvement. One senior said it “brings a sense of community,” and another noted that the prank and the police’s response had “made the whole town feel together.”

The senior prank’s fallout prompted the students to launch a “Toilet Paper Rapid Response Team.” They plan to sell “TP insurance”—if a yard gets covered, the youth group will clean it up for a fee. Community members who buy the coverage could also expect a quick clean‑up of their property.

In the end, Heflin’s toilet paper giveaway turned from a simple senior joke into a town‑wide, light‑hearted exchange. The police showed they can keep the line of fun open, and the students proved they’re ready to respond in kind.
