Vijayadashami marks triumph of truth and righteousness: CM Sharma

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma celebrated Vijayadashami as a powerful reminder of truth triumphing over lies and good beating evil. Speaking at the bustling 132nd National Dussehra Fair in Kota, he told the crowd that even tough journeys toward honesty always lead to solutions.

The event drew huge attention, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla joining Sharma on stage. Sharma called the Kota Dussehra Fair more than just a festival—it’s a vibrant showcase of Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage. This renowned Indian event pulls in tourists and devotees from across the country and beyond, blending religious rituals, lively cultural shows, fun entertainment, and colorful folk traditions.

Drawing from the Ramayana, Sharma highlighted how Lord Ram built an ideal society, or Ramrajya, by defeating villains like Ravana and spreading joy to every corner. He shared how Rajasthan’s government follows the motto of “every person as divine,” pushing real changes for women, youth, farmers, and the poor. Key wins include better women’s safety and empowerment, plus poverty relief through programs like the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Poverty Free Village Scheme. This initiative targets families below the poverty line in 10,000 villages, helping lift them up.

Om Birla echoed the theme, saying Dussehra marks truth’s win over deceit. He recounted how Ram rallied people to form a force of justice and topple the proud Ravana. Birla urged everyone to embrace honesty and ethics, fueling growth for India and Rajasthan alike. He praised Kota’s fair as a timeless emblem of tradition and culture, and backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for Swadeshi—buying local to build a self-reliant nation. Lower GST rates, he noted, have helped local makers and shoppers save money. This year, festival-goers snapped up handicrafts and homegrown goods in droves, boosting artisans. Birla wished all a joyful Vijayadashami and hoped the fair brings fresh prosperity to craftsmen.

The highlights didn’t stop there. Officials from the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records honored Sharma with a certificate for India’s tallest Ravana effigy— a massive 233 feet high. In a thrilling climax, former Maharao Ijyeraj Singh, standing in for Lord Laxminarayan, lit the effigy, sparking dazzling fireworks that lit up the night and excited the massive crowd.

Earlier, Sharma and Birla arrived at Kota’s Garh Palace, where Ijyeraj Singh welcomed them warmly at the Darikhana. Royal family members, landowners, and throngs of locals offered festival greetings. The celebrations also saw School Education Minister Madan Dilawar, State Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, MLAs Sandeep Sharma and Kalpana Devi, Mayor Rajiv Agarwal, and countless others joining the festive vibe at the Dussehra Fair.
