Ahmedabad, Gujarat – Music composer Anu Malik smiled when he travelled to Gujarat for the 70th Filmfare Awards, calling the state “awesome” and saying he loves its people, food and culture. “I always come to Gujarat, especially Ahmedabad,” he told reporters. “I’ve visited Surat, Ankleshwar, Porbandar and Baroda too – wherever I get a chance, I go.”
Malik praised the city’s food. “Gujarati food is one of my favorites. Growing up with Gujarati friends from Mithibai College, I’ve always loved the tastes and the hospitality.” He added that his connection to Ahmedabad dates back to performing at Karnavati Club during Navratri, a memory that keeps him coming back.
“We’re grateful to Filmfare for hosting the ceremony in Gandhinagar,” he said, highlighting Gandhinagar’s beauty. “It’s an honour to be here.”
The awards, set for October 11, will take place at the EKA Arena near Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad. Bollywood super‑star Shah Rukh Khan will co‑host the event with Maniesh Paul and Karan Johar, drawing extra buzz to the evening.
In August, Gujarat’s Tourism Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with Worldwide Media to stage the 70th Filmfare Awards, a move that follows the state’s new Cinematic Tourism Policy. The agreement was signed by TCGL Managing Director Prabhav Joshi and Rohit Gopakumar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
During the ceremony, CM Patel unveiled the iconic black‑lady Filmfare trophy, spotlighting Gujarat’s growing reputation as a film‑industry hub. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Gujarat has gained momentum in economic, social and cultural sectors,” Patel said. “The film industry can help promote Swadeshi and Atmanirbharta—our push for indigenous production and self‑reliance.”
Hosting the Filmfare Awards is expected to boost the local economy, create jobs, encourage the sale of regional products and support the Prime Minister’s “Vocal for Local” initiative. The event underscores Gujarat’s aim to become a top destination for Bollywood and entertainment investment.
