Patna, Dec 13 (LatestNewsX) – The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) announced last Saturday that the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana had been misused for vote‑buying, claiming that funds earmarked for women were mistakenly deposited into men’s bank accounts. The party has demanded an explanation from the state government and is presenting official letters to substantiate its claims.
According to the RJD, a letter from the Block Project Officer (BPO) of Jale block in Darbhanga district addressed to Fekan Paswan of Brahmpur West Panchayat states that Rs 10,000 was inadvertently credited to his account under the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme and that he must return the money immediately. Another BPO letter, this time to Nitish Kumar of Ahiyari Panchayat in the same block, reports a similar error involving Rs 10,000 intended for the scheme but deposited in his account, with a request for prompt repayment.
JDU officials have dismissed the allegations as political opportunism. Abhishek Jha, a spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United), said that minor glitches can occur when large government programmes are implemented and that such mistakes are usually corrected quickly. “When schemes are implemented on such a large scale, small mistakes may happen, but they are corrected. Action is also taken wherever necessary. The RJD is unnecessarily politicising the issue,” Jha explained. He added that the people of Bihar have turned away from the RJD, which is now trying to stir controversy to stay relevant. “The public knows everything,” he asserted.
The controversy spread on social media when the RJD posted on X, accusing the NDA government of rushing to buy votes. The party claimed that the ruling alliance’s “anxiety and insecurity” caused a major clerical error, diverting money meant for women into men’s accounts. It also alleged that the government is sending letters to men requesting the return of Rs 10,000. The RJD warned that, given rising inflation, unemployment, and migration in Bihar, the money would likely have already been spent and questioned how the government expects to recover it. It reiterated accusations of vote‑buying, rigging and electoral manipulation.
