A man in his thirties was discovered floating in the Atlantic near the Coney Island boardwalk, barely conscious, according to police reports.
Responders answered a 911 call around 7:30 a.m. and found the unresponsive individual drifting on the eastern side of the Brooklyn beach.
Witnesses said he had been in the water for some time before being found. He was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where he was initially listed as critical but later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not yet released his name or explained why he had entered the water.
