Grateful nation can’t forget her sacrifice, struggle: PM Modi pays tributes to Rani Lakshmibai
New Delhi, Nov 19 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the legendary Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary, declaring that her sacrifice and steadfast fight for India’s pride will remain in the national memory forever.
Rani Lakshmibai, the fierce queen of Jhansi, rose to prominence during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. After serving as the queen consort from 1843, she stepped into a leadership role once the revolt erupted, fighting several key battles against the British forces.
On the social‑media platform X, Modi posted, “I salute Maa Bharti’s immortal warrior queen, Rani Lakshmibai, on her birth anniversary. Her bravery in the first war of independence still sparks passion in every Indian today. A grateful nation will never forget her sacrifice for our motherland.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, writing, “Rani Lakshmibai Ji made the protection of the motherland her top priority, guiding the 1857 revolution with foresight. Her courage, from diplomacy to battlefield, should inspire every citizen to learn her heroic saga.”
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the commemorations. He said, “Today, we salute the great warrior queen Rani Lakshmibai, whose indomitable courage, patriotism and self‑respect united the country in its fight for freedom. Her life’s example continues to inspire us.”
The tributes underscore India’s reverence for its historic freedom fighters and highlight Rani Lakshmibai’s enduring legacy as a symbol of bravery, leadership and national pride.
