Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who also leads the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, met with the party’s Members of Parliament on Tuesday and pushed them to step up their efforts in local communities. He wants DMK MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to spend at least four days a week connecting directly with people in their constituencies and to send him performance reports every two weeks.
During the meeting at the party’s headquarters, Anna Arivalayam in Chennai, Stalin stressed the need to juggle national duties in Parliament with hands-on work back home. He encouraged MPs to join popular outreach programs like ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ and ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin,’ which help address everyday issues. MPs should team up with local district officials to quickly solve public complaints raised at these events.
Stalin highlighted a key priority: finding and enrolling eligible women who missed out on the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, a major welfare program for women’s rights in Tamil Nadu.
He reminded everyone of the DMK alliance’s big win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, sweeping all 40 seats—39 in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry. Stalin credited that success to the MPs’ dedication and urged them to keep up the momentum for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. “Stay in regular touch with people, tackle their needs head-on, and coordinate closely with ministers, district leaders, lawmakers, zone heads, and even booth-level workers,” he told the group.
Stalin also directed MPs to spotlight what he calls the Union government’s “anti-people” policies while spreading the word about DMK’s welfare schemes and initiatives. He made it clear that visits to constituencies aren’t just photo ops—they’re chances to build real trust, fix problems, and keep the energy high ahead of the polls. To hold everyone accountable, he’ll expect those detailed reports on local work and Parliament contributions every 15 days.
The meeting drew top DMK figures, including General Secretary and Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, Treasurer and Lok Sabha leader T.R. Baalu, Rajya Sabha leader Tiruchi Siva, Deputy General Secretary and MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and other key members.
This push shows DMK’s focus on linking strong parliamentary roles with grassroots activism as Tamil Nadu prepares for the 2026 state elections.
