Exciting news from the set of the upcoming Tamil sci-fi crime thriller ROOT – Running Out of Time. The film’s team just wrapped up its second shooting schedule, and producers at Verus Productions shared the update on social media with plenty of enthusiasm.
"We’re thrilled to announce that the second schedule of our sci-fi crime thriller #Root is complete!" the production house posted. "This journey keeps getting more exciting, and we can’t wait to bring it to you soon. Written and directed by @sooriyaprathap, starring @gauthamramkarthik, @aparshakti_khurana, @bhavyatrikha, and more."
The movie stars Gautham Ram Karthik in a intense lead role as a police officer. Right after the first schedule, he faced a setback when dengue landed him in the hospital for about 10 days. But the crew powered through and finished the second round on time, showing real dedication.
This project marks a big milestone for Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana, who’s stepping into Tamil cinema for the first time after shining in Hindi hits. Bhavya Trikha takes on the female lead, while veteran Y Gee Mahendran plays a key supporting part.
Verus Productions, led by Dhanishtan Fernando, Rajarajan Gananasambandam, Sanjai Shankar, and Shaik Mujeeb, is behind the film. Insiders call it an edge-of-your-seat thriller that blends sci-fi elements with real emotional depth.
Director Sooriyaprathap S, known for his work on Naalaiya Iyakkunar – Season 1 and as associate director on Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, poured his heart into this one. "It’s been a passion project from the start," he said earlier. "We wanted a gripping crime story set against a sci-fi backdrop, but with characters that feel real and relatable."
He praised Gautham Ram Karthik too: "Gautham brings real power and depth to the cop role. His commitment and bold choices make him ideal for this tale."
The technical team adds polish: Arjun Raja handles cinematography, Vithushanan composes the music, and Miracle Michael designs the action sequences. Fans can look forward to ROOT – Running Out of Time shaking up Tamil genre films with something fresh and boundary-pushing.
