Long Island bank robber busted after stickup note shenanigans: cops

A 51‑year‑old Long Island resident named Brian Blackford was taken into custody after police linked him to two Flagstar Bank heists that took place in the area. Police spotted him during a traffic stop in Copiague just before 1 a.m. on Thursday; the officers recognized the man as the suspect and arrested him, though he resisted for a brief period.

Blackford is alleged to have walked into the first Flagstar location on Monday, demanding cash with a note, and then returned to another Flagstar branch just five miles away on Wednesday. The exact amount of money he took has not been released.

In addition to the robberies, he faces charges of resisting arrest and possession of drugs. Earlier entries on his file reveal arrests for crack cocaine and other drug offenses, as well as past accusations of child endangerment, knife‑menacing, weapons possession, and harassment. As of Thursday, he had not yet been arraigned.
