Gujarat Police on high alert after Red Fort blast; citizens urged to remain vigilant

Delhi’s Red Fort area was rocked by a deadly explosion on Monday night, leaving at least ten people dead and more injured. The blast happened near Gate 1 of the Red Fort metro station, turning a car into a twisted shell covered in forensic markers.

The Gujarat Director General of Police, however, reassured residents that the state police remain on high alert. “The cause of the Delhi blast is still under investigation,” he said in a late‑night advisory. “But Gujarat police are vigilant and ready to respond.” He urged citizens to stay careful, report any suspicious activity to local authorities, and avoid spreading unverified rumors.

Following the blast, Home Minister Amit Shah rushed to the scene at 9:45 PM. He inspected the damage, met Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and National Investigation Agency officials, then visited LNJP Hospital to meet victims, including a 12‑year‑old boy with burn injuries and a taxi driver whose car was engulfed in flames.

Security across several states—Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai—has been tightened after the explosion. Earlier in the week, Jammu and Kashmir police apprehended a trans‑national terror cell linked to Jaish‑e‑Mohammad and Ansar‑Ghazwat‑ul‑Hind. In the Faridabad area of Haryana, around New Delhi, they seized 2,900 kg of explosives, assault rifles, pistols, timers, and other weapons. Seven people have already been arrested in connection with the seized material.

The explosion comes a day before the second phase of Bihar’s assembly elections, adding to concerns about the country’s security environment. The government continues to monitor the situation closely and urges the public to stay alert and rely only on verified information.
