Delhi CM Flags Off 52 Trucks of Relief for Flood-Hit Punjab: A Show of Solidarity

In a heartwarming display of support, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 52 trucks loaded with relief materials for the flood-affected people of Punjab on Sunday. She made it clear that the Delhi government stands firmly with Punjab, ready to share their pain and provide every bit of help needed during this tough time.

Gupta highlighted how these trucks carry the love and warmth from Delhi’s residents straight to their "brothers and sisters" in Punjab. The convoy includes essential items like food grains, drinking water, clothes, tarpaulins for shelter, medicines, sanitary kits, milk powder for kids, and other daily necessities to ease the flood crisis.

The Delhi government worked at lightning speed to collect and pack these relief supplies, ensuring they reach the flood-hit areas in Punjab as quickly as possible. On top of that, Delhi has donated Rs 5 crore to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to boost the relief efforts.

Speaking on the deep bond between the two states, Gupta said Delhi and Punjab aren’t just neighbors—they share strong emotional and cultural ties. She invoked the ancient Indian principle of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," meaning the world is one family, to underline the nation’s unity in times of crisis.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister shared: “Delhi has dispatched 52 trucks filled with relief materials for its brothers and sisters in Punjab. The fragrance of Punjab’s soil is deeply ingrained in Delhi’s veins. We are one family, and when Punjab is in crisis, Delhi stands with it to share its pain.” She also thanked ministers, officials, and volunteers for pulling together so fast to arrange everything from food to essentials. Gupta added that she spoke directly with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, assuring him of Delhi’s full support.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva echoed this spirit, emphasizing that sending relief to Punjab is about humanity and service, not favors. "Today, through our organization’s commitment, we’re stepping up because Punjab needs us," he said. He noted the Rs 5 crore contribution from the Chief Minister and explained that while Punjab has rations, they lack ways to cook and store them properly.

To address this, the trucks also carry utensils, mosquito nets, blankets, tarpaulins, medicines, shoes, slippers, and more. Sachdeva praised Punjab’s people as the nation’s food providers and border guardians, making this aid even more meaningful. The trucks head to Jalandhar first, from where the supplies will distribute to the worst-hit flood areas in Punjab.

This gesture highlights the strong Delhi-Punjab relations amid the ongoing floods, showing how states come together in India’s spirit of unity.
