In Bihar’s Mu Zaffarpur, a new airport is on the way and locals are already cheering. The project is part of a plan to boost air links between the Hindi heartland and other major cities.
The airport will rise on a pre‑fabricated steel frame, and the tender for construction has already begun. Residents say the development finally meets a long‑awaited need for quick travel to Patna, Darbhanga and other hubs.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mu Zaffarpur, he promised a new airport. Local women like Kanchan Mala said, “Now the plan is moving forward. We no longer have to travel all the way to Patna or Darbhanga. Thank you, PM.” Another resident, Sahil Chaudhary, added, “A 100‑kilometre trip to an airport will be saved. It’s a source of pride for our town.”
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary confirmed that the upgrade will modernise the existing airstrip to handle Code‑2B aircraft safely. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) will manage the new facility.
If the airport opens soon, Mu Zaffarpur will earn a spot on the map of India’s expanding aviation network, offering faster travel and new economic opportunities for the region.
