BRS Leader KTR Files Rs 10 Crore Defamation Case Against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay in Hyderabad
In a bold move, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, has slapped a civil defamation suit on Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The case, filed in the City Civil Court in Hyderabad, demands Rs 10 crore in damages over what KTR calls false and damaging allegations.
KTR, through his lawyer P Viswajanani from PV Janani & Associates, also dragged several media outlets and social media giants into the lawsuit. He wants the court to order the removal of the controversial content, force Bandi Sanjay to issue a public apology, and slap a permanent ban on any more such statements.
The trouble started on August 8, 2025, when Bandi Sanjay spoke at a press meet. He accused KTR of misusing the Telangana Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) for illegal phone tapping and financial wrongdoing. KTR says these claims are totally baseless and part of a dirty political attack to ruin his reputation.
These remarks quickly went viral. TV channels like ABN Telugu, NTV, TV5, V6, and ANN Telugu aired them, while websites such as India Today, NDTV, Deccan Herald, and Times of India published stories. On social media, platforms including X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Google, and Meta’s Facebook and Instagram shared the content far and wide.
KTR fired off a legal notice to Bandi Sanjay on August 11, 2025, demanding an apology. But with no response, he decided to take the matter to court. In his complaint, KTR highlights how such reckless comments from a top government official hurt the trust and dignity of elected leaders.
The City Civil Court in Hyderabad has accepted the case, and the Chief Judge will soon hear arguments on the damages, apology, and restrictions KTR is seeking. This defamation lawsuit has sparked buzz in Telangana politics, with many watching how it unfolds. ()
