On Friday afternoon in Turin, 22‑year‑old Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz won the ATP Finals trophy and became the Year‑End No. 1 for the second time. He sealed his spot by defeating Italian teenager Lorenzo Musetti, going 3‑0 in the round‑robin phase at the season‑ending event.
Alcaraz has already collected six Grand Slam titles and now aims for a first ATP Finals crown. He turned pro in 2018 from El Palmar, Murcia, and has grown into one of tennis’ most exciting talents.
“It’s a pleasure to be No. 1,” Alcaraz said, beaming in front of the crowd. “Every day I work with my team to reach this goal. Alcaraz thanked fans worldwide, noting how “the energy and love from fans keep me going.” He traveled from January to November, playing in new cities and stages, but the people’s support remained constant. “Without the fans’ support, I couldn’t bring home trophies,” he said. “This trophy is for all of you.”
