AI plays transformative role in education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors: Ashwini Vaishnaw
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently shared exciting insights on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing everyday life in India. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, he pointed out AI’s big impact in key areas like education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Vaishnaw explained that AI is making real differences right at the grassroots level. “It’s helping farmers in agriculture, improving patient care in healthcare, and boosting kids’ learning in education,” he said.
He shared a striking example from Tonk in Rajasthan, where AI tools have nearly doubled children’s understanding of math—jumping learning outcomes by almost 100%. Similar success stories are popping up in Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh, showing AI’s power to transform education across states.
Looking ahead, Vaishnaw announced that India will host the prestigious AI Impact Summit in February 2026. This global event, already held in cities like London, Seoul, and Paris, will showcase India’s innovative AI projects and initiatives.
Ahead of the summit, NITI Aayog reviewed AI projects in various districts and shared promising findings. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, highlighted AI’s huge role in driving innovation and economic growth in India.
“AI can supercharge productivity,” Subrahmanyam said. “If we use it smartly, India could hit an 8% growth rate and add up to $2 trillion to the economy by 2035.” He added that a detailed AI roadmap is coming soon, focusing on better governance, workforce skills, and industrial advancements.
Addressing fears about AI causing job losses, Subrahmanyam drew parallels to the computer revolution. “Just like computers created more jobs than they took away, AI will open new opportunities and avenues for everyone,” he reassured. This positive outlook on AI’s future in India is sure to spark interest among tech enthusiasts and everyday readers alike.
