VK Saxena lauds DDA for sports infra, awards medals to LG Cup 2026 winners

New Delhi, Jan 19 (LatestNewsX) Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Monday said that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is continuously strengthening sports infrastructure in the city and promoting sports culture to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Fit India” and “Khelo India”.

Giving away medals to winners of LG Cup 2026, Saxena said, “For the first time, the DDA included sports such as Football, Archery and Shooting in addition to Golf in the LG Cup, so that more and more people can connect with these sports, and this sporting event can be given a more inclusive and widespread character.”

“I congratulate DDA, which is not only continuously strengthening sports infrastructure in Delhi, but is also promoting sports culture in Delhi through such events — an important step towards realising the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji of ‘Fit India’ and ‘Khelo India’,” the LG wrote on X.

The grand finale of the LG Cup was held at DDA’s Yamuna Sports Complex, marking the successful culmination of a prestigious multi-disciplinary sports tournament.

The ceremonial occasion where medals were awarded to the winners of the tournament was also attended by Minister of State for Road Transport and Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra, DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar and other senior officers of DDA.
