Benjamin Netanyahu fired back at Mayor‑elect Zohran Mamdani earlier this week, confidently announcing that he would appear in New York – despite the mayor’s pledge to bring Israel’s prime minister before the International Criminal Court on Gaza‑related charges.
“I’ll come to New York,” Netanyahu said in a video address from Israel at the Dealbook Summit held at Lincoln Center on Wednesday. “Yes, of course I will.”

Throughout the campaign, Mamdani promised to enforce the ICC warrant against the Israeli leader over the Gaza conflict. When asked whether he would meet the mayor, Netanyahu replied that a dialogue would only proceed if the mayor accepted Israel’s right to exist.
“If [Mamdani] changes his mind and says that we have the right to exist, that’ll be a good opening for a conversation,” he added in response to a question about a potential meeting with the mayor‑elect.
