‘New arrival’ Davies’ return sparks enthusiasm for Bayern Munich with Musiala and Ito to follow

Berlin – Dec 11 (LatestNewsX)
After nine months sidelined, Alphonso Davies has sparked a wave of optimism around reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. The Canadian winger’s return to action, cheering him on at the Champions League clash with Sporting (3‑1), has lifted spirits not only on match day but also during the team’s training sessions.

Coach Vincent Kompany compared this season’s momentum to last year’s triumph with Harry Kane and Eric Dier, saying, “Last year, we had the story of Harry Kane and Eric Dier, taking a title for the first time. This year, it is the intense effort of Phonzy, Ito, and Jamal delivering additional determination.”

Kompany described the injured players who are back as fresh signings, boosting morale and giving Bayern a stronger chance to capture the double and progress further in the Champions League, according to Xinhua.

The former Citizen defender and Burnley coach added, “Davies, Ito, and Musiala are the new fire burning ‘in us’.”

The sheer joy and relief the trio feels when back on the pitch has had a ripple effect across the squad. “What they feel, the entire team must feel,” the 39‑year‑old said.

Davies only managed three minutes after a knee injury in March, and while Japanese defender Ito and German star Musiala are expected to return in 2026, they’re seen as a boost for the team just in time for the Champions League’s pivotal moments.

Sport director Max Eberl called the eight‑to‑nine‑month rehab a mental challenge, and midfielder Joshua Kimmich lauded Davies’s mindset, saying, “How he went through all of this is a role model. He was always near the team and in the locker room,” and praised the 25‑year‑old Canadian’s spirit as inspiring for the entire team.

Though Bayern’s leaders have no plans to sign players this winter, Davies, Ito, and Musiala are regarded as additions that elevate the squad’s quality.

With 15 points secured, Kompany’s side still faces Saint‑Gilloise and PSV in the remaining league fixtures, which widens his options.

He also noted the special emotions that surface after a long, difficult injury break, likening them to the joy of winning silverware.

Looking ahead, Kompany aims to carry this motivational surge into the Champions League knockout stage, adding, “It’s like the start of a newly formed team.”
