Let’s take pledge to make U’khand strong, self-reliant: CM Dhami on 25th Foundation Day

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami sent a heartfelt video message to the people of Uttarakhand on Sunday, celebrating the state’s 25th Foundation Day. He praised the community for helping turn “Devbhoomi Uttarakhand” – the land of Gods – into a model of balanced growth and asked everyone to pledge to keep the state harmonious, strong and self‑reliant.

Uttarakhand, which split from Uttar Pradesh on November 9 2000, is now India’s 27th state. The 25‑year anniversary marks a journey from a people’s movement to a region that blends faith, culture and modern development.

In his message, Dhami highlighted the state’s achievements over the past quarter‑century. “We have reached new milestones in health, education, tourism, culture, environmental protection and jobs,” he said. The CM credited the people and thousands of early protestors who fought for Uttarakhand’s creation as the reason for these gains. He added that Uttarakhand’s heritage, language and hardworking citizens prove the state’s endless possibilities.

“I urge everyone to join in a pledge that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand becomes a leading, respected, and self‑sufficient state,” Dhami urged. “Together we can keep this place safe, vibrant and prosperous.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dehradun on Sunday to join the silver jubilee celebrations. He will kick off several development projects worth more than ₹8 140 crore. These projects include new drinking‑water supplies, irrigation channels, technical education campuses, energy installations, urban upgrades, sports facilities, and skill‑development hubs.

During the visit, Modi will also lay foundation stones for projects totaling over ₹7 210 crore and open programs worth ₹930 crore. The Prime Minister will release a direct support package of ₹62 crore to more than 28 000 farmers through the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, putting cash straight into their bank accounts.

The announcement comes as Uttarakhand looks ahead to the next 25 years—building on its growth, celebrating its culture, and continuing to serve its people with bold projects and strong governance.
