Afghan national from Operation Allies Welcome arrested, charged for threatening to bomb Texas town

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just announced that an Afghan man was taken into custody after he posted a TikTok clip showing himself assembling a bomb aimed at the Fort Worth area in Texas. The video had a clear threat that the DHS described as a “terroristic threat,” and court filings confirm the state‑level charges against him.

The suspect, Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, came to the United States through the Biden administration’s Operation Allies Welcome program, which relocated Afghans following the 2021 troop withdrawal. He was granted lawful permanent resident status on September 7, 2022.

Alokozay was seized by the Texas Department of Public Safety and an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force on Tuesday—just a day before a separate shooting incident in Washington, D.C. In that event, a man named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who also arrived under Operation Allies Welcome, allegedly fired on two National Guard soldiers.

After the arrest, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer on Alokozay, keeping him in legal custody for the duration of the investigation.
