PKL 12: Skipper Yogesh’s defensive acumen seals win for Bengaluru Bulls

Bengaluru Bulls grabbed a thrilling 28-24 win over Gujarat Giants in a high-energy Pro Kabaddi League match at Jaipur’s SMS Indoor Stadium on Monday. The victory snapped a tough streak for the Bulls, thanks to their rock-solid defense and sharp raids.

The Bulls jumped out to an early lead, with raiders Aashish Malik and Akash Shinde grabbing quick points to keep Gujarat on their toes. They stayed cool on both ends of the mat, as defenders Sanjay Dhull and Alireza Mirzaian shut down the Giants’ attacks. Gujarat leaned on Rakesh and Parteek Dahiya for raids, but Bengaluru held a slim 5-4 edge at the start.

Things heated up when Gujarat’s Visvanth V unleashed a game-changing Super Raid, wiping out three Bulls players—Satyappa Matti, Sanjay, and Deepak Sankar—in one go. That flipped the score to 6-5 for the Giants and put pressure right back on Bengaluru.

In the second quarter, the Bulls roared back. Akash Shinde stole the show with his own Super Raid, taking out Shadloui and Nitin Panwar while dodging an all-out. He kept the raids coming, and Aashish added more heat on Gujarat’s defense. The Giants fought with Parteek Dahiya and Visvanth V, but Bulls defenders like Jitender Yadav nailed key super tackles. Bengaluru headed into halftime up 17-13.

The Bulls built on that lead in the third quarter, stretching it to seven points by the end. Gujarat pushed hard through Parteek and Visvanth, but the Bulls’ backline shone. Captain Yogesh delivered a massive super tackle on Dahiya, stopping a potential all-out and keeping the momentum. Steady raids from Alireza and Aashish kept the points flowing, even after Shadloui tackled Shinde. Bengaluru entered the final quarter leading 23-16, looking steady and in control.

Gujarat mounted a fierce comeback in the last stretch, with Rakesh and Parteek speeding through raids and defenders Lucky Sharma and Shubham Kumar landing super tackles. They narrowed the gap, making it a nail-biter. But Yogesh and the Bulls’ defense wouldn’t break. The skipper’s perfectly timed High 5 sealed the deal, blocking Gujarat’s last all-out push. Bengaluru held firm for the hard-fought 28-24 Pro Kabaddi win in Jaipur.

Yogesh scored six points with his defensive heroics, while Akash Shinde led the raids with seven. This Jaipur showdown highlighted why Bengaluru Bulls stay a top contender in the Pro Kabaddi League.
