SIR Phase 2: ECI records 100 pc distribution in EF in nine States/UTs, eight in digitisation amongst 12
New Delhi, Dec 11 – The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that Phase II of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is progressing well. According to the daily bulletin issued Thursday, nine states and union territories have now finished distributing the enumeration forms, while eight of them have completed the digitisation of those forms.
Enumeration began on November 4 and will wrap up on December 11 for Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan and West Bengal. An updated schedule from the ECI says that Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will finish by December 14, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by December 18, and Uttar Pradesh by December 26.
So far, 50.97 crore election‑forms (EFs) have been sent out, giving the commission a 99.9 % coverage of voters across the 12 reporting areas. In parallel, 50.88 crore forms have been digitised, which represents a 99.78 % completion rate.
Certain states have led the way: Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal all achieved 100 % distribution. The same states – except West Bengal, which sits at 99.96 % – also reached 100 % digitisation. Rajasthan, whose revision in the Anta Assembly Constituency started late because of a by‑election, has hit 99.6 % distribution and 99.64 % digitisation.
Uttar Pradesh tops the list with 99.9 % distribution, while Kerala records 98.92 % distribution. For Kerala, the final deadline for submitting forms is December 18.
The ECI noted that its digitised totals include entries marked as absent, shifted, dead or duplicated. The commission also urged registered political parties to recruit additional Booth‑Level Agents to aid field verification.
