South East Delhi Police launched a massive overnight raid that nabbed 63 suspects across the national capital, striking hard at criminal networks fueling drug trafficking and illegal arms.
The operation drew in 500 officers and 40 specialized teams, who scoured multiple spots based on solid intelligence tips. They seized 15 pistols, hefty stashes of MDMA, cocaine, and heroin, plus piles of cash. Authorities say this targeted push aims to shut down illegal activities in the South East Delhi area, and they’re now digging deeper to track where the contraband came from.
Delhi Police is ramping up its battle against narcotics by zeroing in on the money trail that keeps drug cartels alive. Officials point out that traffickers don’t just rely on drugs—they wash massive illicit profits into expanding crimes, sneaking into legit businesses, shaking up economies, and even bankrolling terrorism in some cases.
To fight back effectively, the force is blending street-level busts with sharp financial probes, as outlined in their latest statement. The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act gives them powerful tools, like Section 68, to trace, freeze, and seize properties bought with drug money. This hits traffickers where it hurts, stripping away their profits and crumbling the networks that support them.
Leading the charge is the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in the Delhi Police Crime Branch. They’ve shifted from just making arrests and grabbing drugs to a two-pronged attack: operational work that rounds up dealers, seizes shipments, and maps supply chains, paired with financial digs that follow the cash.
Here’s how it works. They profile every suspect in NDPS cases, spotting assets that don’t match their earnings and checking family or associates for hidden holdings. Teams analyze bank accounts, digital transfers, crypto wallets, and property records to expose sneaky money moves.
Once they pinpoint the goods—like luxury cars, farmhouses, or shops funded by drugs—they move to attach and confiscate them. Delhi Police is also leaning on tech and data tools such as NIDAAN, FIU-IND, and ICJS to connect the dots, spot shady patterns, and uncover narcotics funding streams.
This all-out approach shows Delhi Police’s commitment to dismantling drug operations from every angle, keeping the capital safer one bust at a time.
