New Dashcam Video May Show Last Sighting of Missing Texas Teen Camila Mendoza Olmos

Investigators believe newly released dashcam footage could show missing Texas teenager Camila Mendoza Olmos shortly before she vanished, according to the sheriff leading the case.

The brief video, shared Monday by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, appears to show someone resembling the 19-year-old walking near her San Antonio home around 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve — the morning she disappeared.

“If you commute through this area or have dash cam or home surveillance footage that may have captured Camila — please contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office immediately,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

Authorities said the footage was provided by a motorist who later realized they may have captured someone matching Olmos’ description during their commute.

“The motorist got to thinking, I may have seen somebody that matched that description on my morning commute the other day,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said during an interview on NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”

Olmos went missing early on Dec. 24 after leaving her home for one of her routine walks around the neighborhood, her mother previously said.

Police reported that she was last seen wearing a black North Face sweater with blue accents, baby blue pajama shorts, and white shoes.

At this stage, investigators say they are not ruling out kidnapping or human trafficking, though they are also exploring the possibility that Olmos left voluntarily. Salazar stressed that all scenarios remain under consideration.

“She could have just wanted to get away, gather her thoughts. There is a concern regarding self-harm, so that could be what’s going on here … she may have gone and harmed herself, or she could have been abducted,” Salazar said.

“At this point, we’re looking at that whole spectrum of possibilities until such time as some prevailing evidence emerges that leads us one way or the other,” he added.

Before the release of this dashcam footage, Olmos was last seen in surveillance video taken around 7 a.m., showing her searching inside her car before leaving her home on foot.

Investigators said she likely had only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license with her at the time. Her cellphone was found left behind on her bed.

She had also made plans to go shopping with her best friend later that day, authorities said.

Salazar spoke after confirming the search had expanded beyond the United States, with officials in Nuevo Leon state in northeastern Mexico issuing an alert as part of the effort.

Authorities have previously confirmed that Olmos, a U.S. citizen, was not detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The search now involves multiple agencies, including the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local and state law enforcement.

Olmos’ ex-boyfriend, Nathan Gonzales, has also joined the search and told local media that the situation has been a “nightmare” for her family.
