Mark Ronson to reunite with Greta Gerwig to score her ‘Narnia’ adaptation
Mark Ronson is teaming up again with director Greta Gerwig for her exciting new Netflix project: an adaptation of C.S. Lewis’s “Chronicles of Narnia.” The Grammy-winning producer, famous for “Uptown Funk,” will create the score for this fantasy adventure.
This marks Gerwig’s highly anticipated follow-up to her blockbuster “Barbie.” She’s writing and directing the film, which draws from “The Magician’s Nephew,” the sixth book in the Narnia series. It acts as a prequel to the classic “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” focusing on how Aslan the lion brings the magical world of Narnia to life.
The star-studded cast includes Meryl Streep voicing Aslan—making it a family affair, since Streep is Ronson’s mother-in-law through his marriage to her daughter, Grace Gummer. Other big names on board: Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, and Carey Mulligan.
Fans can catch the movie first in IMAX theaters on Thanksgiving Day 2026, with a two-week run before it streams on Netflix over Christmas.
Ronson and Gerwig have a strong track record together. He served as executive music producer on “Barbie,” co-writing and producing five songs, plus teaming up with Andrew Wyatt on the score. That work earned nods from the Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars.
Right now, Ronson is juggling this Narnia gig with the launch of his memoir, “Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City.” Released on September 16, the book dives into his early days as a music lover turned top DJ in New York’s vibrant club scene.
There’s more good news for Ronson fans: Production company Plan B has snapped up the rights to turn “Night People” into a feature film. Plan B’s recent hits include “F1,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and the Netflix series “Adolescence,” which just won several Primetime Emmys.
