In Agartala, Tripura, former Chief Minister and current MP Biplab Kumar Deb recently sat down with education leaders from Tripura Central University and 12 degree colleges. They discussed the new NextGenGST framework, aiming to spread awareness and gear up the next generation for India’s economic future.
Deb stressed how these talks bring academics into real-world policy chats. “Engaging scholars and educators aligns classroom knowledge with national goals,” he said. “It’s key to bridging theory and practice, building a stronger tomorrow through economic reforms like NextGenGST.”
Meanwhile, in Kashmir, locals and traders are cheering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest GST reforms. They see these changes as a big win for businesses and everyday folks. The updates simplify the tax system and speed up refunds, which should spark more trade, entrepreneurship, and jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.
Local resident Mohammad Soliha told , “This is huge relief for common people, especially lower-income families. It makes buying groceries easier on our hard-earned money. Even middle-class households, who depended on government aid or free rations, feel the difference now. Everyone’s happy with these GST reforms.”
Shopkeeper Sajjad Ahmad added, “It’s a smart move. Medicine prices have dropped a lot, helping ordinary people. This initiative is excellent and truly beneficial.”
Bashir Kongposh, General Secretary of the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, praised the effort too. “This is a joyful time for budget-strapped families. I’m thankful to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for planning this with PM Modi and the Home Minister. It’s a historic step for economic growth in the region.”
The reforms, greenlit at the 56th GST Council meeting earlier this month, kicked in on Monday. They swap the old four-rate setup for a simpler two-slab system: 5% and 18%. Luxury and sin goods keep a 40% rate. These GST changes promise to ease burdens, boost development, and support India’s push for a more vibrant economy.
