Pravasi Rajasthani Divas: State govt signs MoUs worth Rs 1 lakh crore

In Jaipur on December 10, the Rajasthan government kicked off the first Pravasi Rajasthani Divas, unveiling a range of economic moves and sealing business deals worth Rs 1 lakh crore at the JECC. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma marked the occasion, urging Rajasthan’s diaspora to invest back home and consider it a second home. “Everything has changed here in two years. Industries are receiving all required facilities,” he told the crowd, adding that 14 new state chapters would now link NRIs with local projects.

A few minutes later, Union Industry Minister Piyush Goyal appealed to the global Rajasthani community to act as brand ambassadors for the state, pointing out that more than ten million NRIs live worldwide. “If each one contributes, no power can stop Rajasthan from becoming India’s number one state,” he said.

Rajasthan Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stepped up, reminding everyone that Rajasthan is far from a dry, starving land. “Do not consider Rajasthan dry and hungry. The people here are capable, and this land has immense potential,” he declared, urging the diaspora to return and help build the state’s future. Kataria also highlighted the state’s mineral riches, citing recent gold finds in Banswara’s Bhukhia village that are reshaping the mining sector.

The Chief Minister rolled out several new initiatives to strengthen governance, boost industry, and lift infrastructure. He announced a dedicated NRI department to simplify investment processes, noting that the state has created 92,000 government jobs in the past two years through a transparent, leak‑free recruitment system. Industries were promised a near‑future 24‑hour power supply, and he referenced ongoing water projects such as Ram Jal Setu and a new Yamuna water agreement that will service multiple districts.

Rajasthan’s Industry Minister, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, detailed plans to expand industrial infrastructure. He disclosed the launch of 37 new industrial areas, more than 2,000 plots, and a slew of policies designed to streamline approvals and enhance the business climate.

The summit also featured lively Kalbelia and Kacchi Ghodi dance performances, adding a splash of traditional charm for the guests. An exhibition in Pragati Path Hall highlighted the state’s heritage, craftsmanship, and commercial strengths, drawing the Governor, the Chief Minister, and other dignitaries.

More than 8,000 people had registered for the event, with nearly 1,000 attendees present at the inauguration. Several overseas Rajastanis and industry leaders were honored during the ceremony. A highlight was the ‘Progress Path Hall’, which showcased Rajasthan’s Vision 2047, spotlighting advances in renewable energy, heritage architecture models, and forward‑looking infrastructure projects that outline the state’s goals for the next twenty years.
