Hyrox Mumbai delivers a record-breaking fitness spectacle

Mumbai’s NESCO Center buzzed with excitement on Sunday as HYROX, the global fitness racing series, kicked off its third edition in India. Over 3,350 fitness enthusiasts from all walks of life turned up for this massive event, making it the biggest fitness race ever in the country. Participants tackled Singles, Doubles, Relay, and Pro categories, proving that HYROX Mumbai is all about pushing limits and building a strong fitness community.

The race format kept everyone on their toes: eight 1 km runs mixed with eight tough functional workouts like SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls. Athletes of every skill level sweated it out, turning the venue into a hub of endurance and strength.

What made HYROX Mumbai truly special was the incredible diversity among participants. The youngest racer, 16-year-old Shivanjali Mitkari from Pune, lined up alongside 70-year-old Mohan Moyara from Surat, Gujarat—the oldest competitor of the day. Fitness really knows no age! Adding some Bollywood flair, popular singer Dhvani Bhanushali jumped into the Doubles category, racing right alongside regular folks and inspiring the crowd.

In a heartwarming moment, 40-year-old IT professional Prashant Arkal, who lives with polio, competed in the Adaptives category using a wheelchair. His story highlights HYROX’s focus on inclusivity, creating a welcoming space for everyone. Prashant shared his thoughts: “No matter your age or ability, you should always try something new that challenges you and pushes your limits. That’s what makes HYROX special. At the registration counter, everyone was amazed and cheering me on—it was so inspiring. If I motivate someone, that’s the magic of this event. The energy here is off the charts!”

This blend of ages, backgrounds, and stories didn’t just make it a race—it built a real fitness community. Teammates, families, and fans cheered across the board, celebrating the joy of movement in true Mumbai style. Even international stars joined the fun: Leanne M. and Danielle C. from the UK returned for their second HYROX Mumbai and dominated the Pro Women’s Doubles with a stunning time of 1:02.23. They raved, “This is our second Mumbai race, and it went just as smoothly as last time. The course is fantastic, the staff are top-notch, and everything flows so well. People you don’t even know cheer you on—everyone’s so happy and having a blast. The crowd in Mumbai brings brilliant energy!”

Off the track, things got even more lively in the Partner’s Zone, thanks to PUMA India. They set up cool spots for braiding, tattoos, and custom gear, plus showcased the hot PUMA x HYROX AH25 collection and new shoes that had athletes and fans lining up.

Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director of PUMA India, couldn’t hide his excitement: “HYROX has grown way beyond a simple fitness race—it’s becoming a full-on culture. The energy, camaraderie, and drive from participants in the last two editions show how India’s fitness lovers have claimed it as their own. Mumbai thrives on passion and movement, and seeing this community unite for the third time is thrilling. As HYROX’s global partners and a top sports brand in India, PUMA is proud to fuel this movement that’s reshaping sport and fitness here.”

With the hype building, HYROX isn’t stopping—it’s heading to Bengaluru in April 2026 for India’s first-ever two-day HYROX festival. If you’re into fitness racing, workouts, or community events, this is the kind of energy that’s taking India by storm!
