In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Handwara Police took a strong step against terrorism on Thursday by attaching property linked to an alleged terrorist handler. The target was Nazir Ahmad Ganai, a member of the JKNOP group operating from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Officials say he’s been guiding terror activities in the Handwara area.
The action came during an investigation into a case at Kralgund Police Station. With legal approvals in place, police and revenue officials seized Ganai’s land in Palpora village. This move shows Handwara Police’s determination to crack down on terrorist handlers and anti-national elements. It aims to break up terror support networks, discourage illegal actions, and boost peace in the district.
Handwara Police urged locals to help build a secure community and avoid supporting any threats to national security. They warned that anyone caught aiding such groups will face tough legal consequences.
Meanwhile, in a related effort to fight the separatist-terror network, Sopore Police raided homes of two individuals tied to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami in Zaloora, Sopore. The searches targeted Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, and Tanveer Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Jabbar Dar.
These operations followed FIRs under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, or UAPA, with proper court warrants. Teams found and seized incriminating materials connected to the outlawed group. Magistrates and independent witnesses oversaw everything to ensure fairness and transparency.
Sopore Police’s ongoing probes focus on rooting out terror-linked networks in Jammu and Kashmir. Such counter-terrorism steps help curb radical ideas, keep public order intact, and protect the nation’s sovereignty.
