In Chennai, the buzz around Arun Matheswaran’s next Tamil film has just gotten louder.
Sun Pictures revealed that the project will be called “DC” and that Lokesh Kanakaraj will star as the lead. It’s his first time in front of the camera, a striking shift after he directed Rajinikanth’s Coolie last year.
Wamiqa Gabbi is confirmed to play the female lead, named Chandra. The teaser that Sun Pictures posted on social media shows Lokesh as Devdas, a tough gangster, and sets the tone for a gritty crime drama. The short clip hints at violence and suspense, with Devdas leaving a room while blood‑stained and clutching a dagger, and Chandra entering a brothel‑like setting carrying a condom packet.
The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran, with dialogues by Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob and a screenplay by Arun Ranjan. Renowned composer Anirudh will provide the music, while Mukesh G. handles cinematography. G K Prasanna edits the film, and Kannan S. brings the visual world to life with his art direction.
Sun Pictures says filming is moving quickly and the shoot should wrap up by January next year, with a projected release sometime in 2025. Lokesh Kanakaraj has trained in martial arts in Thailand for the role, underscoring the movie’s action‑heavy focus.
Fans of Tamil cinema can expect a fresh gangster thriller soon, featuring a debut acting performance from a respected director turned star.
