Contract for Marine Parade free shuttle bus service set to end

Free shuttle buses are rolling out in the city, thanks to a grassroots organisation that wants to keep travel easy and affordable for everyone. The group started the service to help residents hop between local shops, schools and hospitals without paying a fare.

“The plan is to redirect resources in a more targeted manner,” said the organisation’s spokesperson. “By focusing funding and support on the routes that matter most, we can make sure the shuttle reaches the places people need it most.”

City officials say the new buses will cut traffic and lower carbon emissions while giving low‑income families a reliable way to get around. Community members have welcomed the move, noting that the free rides can help students, seniors and workers stay engaged in daily life without the cost of a private vehicle.

With the shuttle service now underway, residents can board at designated stops across the neighbourhood, and the route schedule will be updated weekly online. For those who rely on public transport, this initiative promises a smoother, cheaper, and more efficient journey.
