Street justice for Brooklyn’s serial spitter as two men deliver epic beatdown: ‘We’re worse than jail’
The Brooklyn Department of Police recently arrested Anthony Caines, a 45‑year‑old man who was reportedly caught on camera spitting at white women as they walked through Williamsburg. The NYPD said the incident led to his arrest for a series of harassment offenses.
A video that went viral on social media shows something quite different happening just moments later. Two men, who never showed their faces, were seen pounding and kicking Caines outside a hair salon on Sixth Street. He was lying flat on the sidewalk, curled into a defensive fetal position, while they delivered blows to his head and legs. The attackers even chuckled to themselves as they stomped on his legs.
In the clip, Caines is heard moaning in pain. The footage abruptly cuts to a view of him with a large gash above his left eye, blood dripping down his face. The man shooting the video turns to him and says, “Stop violating these females out here, you heard?” He adds, “We’re tired of that s–t,” and threatens that they’re “worse than jail.” When Caines attempts to explain that he already went to jail, the attacker snatches the tape and delivers a final punch to his head. He then storms off, shouting, “F–k jail — we’re worse than jail.”
Sources say Caines was detained on November 13 in connection with the spitting incidents. He was released the next day, November 14, with an ankle monitor after pleading not guilty to charges that include aggravated harassment based on race or religion. Court documents from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office indicate the case is still active, and the DA’s office is encouraging any other victims to come forward.
The NYPD has confirmed that no report of the assault on Caines reached them. When The Post asked the user who first posted the clip for a statement, no response was received.
