Kremlin reviewing Ukraine peace proposal amid ongoing military developments

Moscow, Dec 25 (LatestNewsX) The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russia is currently reviewing a peace proposal related to the Ukraine conflict that was submitted by a Russian special envoy after recent discussions with US officials.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow is carefully studying the information shared by Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation. Dmitriev had held talks with representatives of the US administration in Miami over the weekend.

“We are analysing these materials, and once this process is complete, further consultations with the U.S. side will continue in line with decisions taken by the Head of State,” Peskov said, according to Xinhua news agency.

Peskov earlier confirmed that Dmitriev had already briefed President Vladimir Putin on the outcomes of his visit to Miami. On Sunday, both Russian and Ukrainian delegations held separate discussions with US officials in Florida. Speaking to the media, Dmitriev said that attempts by what he described as “warmongers” to derail Russia-US dialogue had failed, Russian news agency Sputnik reported.

At the same time, fighting continues on the ground. Russia’s Defence Ministry said units of its Southern Group of Forces have taken control of the settlement of Sviato-Pokrovske in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.

“Following decisive actions, units of the Southern Group of Forces liberated the settlement of Sviato-Pokrovske in the Donetsk region,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also claimed that Russian air defence systems intercepted and destroyed six aerial bombs, one US-made HIMARS rocket, and 472 fixed-wing drones in the special military operation zone over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, authorities in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that two oil storage tanks caught fire at the southern port of Temryuk after a drone attack. Officials said there were no casualties, based on preliminary information.

The fire reportedly spread across an area of about 2,000 square meters, with around 70 personnel and 18 units of equipment deployed to contain the blaze.

In a separate overnight drone strike, the village of Nikolaevka in the Krasnodar region was also hit, resulting in damage to several industrial facilities and farm equipment.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian drones targeted the port of Taman in the Volna settlement, damaging two piers and two oil tankers. Additionally, two storage tanks were affected by debris from intercepted drones.

Both Temryuk and Taman are key Black Sea ports and play a crucial role in Russia’s exports of oil and petroleum products.
