Gulshan Devaiah says ‘I belong to cinema & art’ amidst all the love for Kantara: Chapter 1

Mumbai, Oct 4 – Actor Gulshan Devaiah wowed fans with his role as Prince Kulashekhar in Rishab Shetty’s new pre‑quel, “Kantara Chapter 1.”
The film, a myth‑driven drama that digs into the story behind the 2022 hit “Kantara,” hit theatres on Oct 2 to enthusiastic reviews. Devaiah, who also stars in the original as a loyal soldier, expressed how touched he is by the “love” pouring in from viewers.
On his X account (formerly Twitter), the actor wrote, “I’m so tired of hearing my name mentioned since the last few days… PLEASE DON’T STOP! Keep the appreciation coming. Just because I’m tired doesn’t mean you get tired too.”
When asked about the debate over Bollywood versus regional cinema, Devaiah insisted he sees himself as part of “cinema & art.” “I belong to cinema & art,” he posted, replying to a fan who noted the difference between Hindi and non‑Hindi audiences.
The actor also thanked people who wished him recognition, saying, “Recognition is incidental; what we really need are good opportunities with good people.”
“Kantara Chapter 1” follows the journey of Prince Kulashekhar, played by Devaiah, and ties into the broader epic built around Rishab Shetty’s world‑building, featuring stars like Jayaram as King Rajashekara and Ramitha Shailendra as the queen.
With “Kantara Chapter 2” already in theatres, the franchise is promising more action, mythology, and cultural depth for fans of Indian regional cinema worldwide.
