West Village business hit in possible arson attack after unknown object hurled through window sparks fire

Police are investigating a suspected arson after an unidentified object was hurled through a storefront in the West Village. The impact triggered a small fire early on Wednesday morning, and the blaze was swiftly contained by arriving fire crews.

According to law‑enforcement officials, roughly six individuals were seen throwing the object after smashing the shop’s front window sometime shortly after 3 a.m. The building houses a barbershop on the ground floor and a smoke shop above. A bomb squad was dispatched to determine whether the incident was an intentional act of arson.

Fire marshals will later assess the precise cause of the fire, while police are still questioning the motives of the suspects. Shot footage and testimonies have shown the perpetrators attempting to escape the scene on foot, but no one has been charged as of now. The only reference to the type of object thrown remains unknown at present.

Police and fire officials remain on the case, holding the door “FIRE LINE: DO NOT CROSS” as they investigate the incident.
