A car exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station on Monday evening, killing 10 people and injuring dozens more. The blast, which ripped through a vehicle at Gate 1 of the busy station, sent thick black smoke and shattered windows, sparking panic across Old Delhi.
Indian cricket legend Gautam Gambhir and Olympic bronze‑medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia both posted on X (Twitter) to mourn the loss of innocent lives and to call for a swift recovery for the injured. Gambhir wrote, “Sad to see so many people die in the Delhi blast. Praying for strength to the families of the deceased and a quick recovery for the injured.” Punia added, “Heart‑wrenching tragedy at the Red Fort metro. I stand with the families and urge the government to conduct an immediate, transparent investigation.”
Former Olympian Vinesh Phogat also shared her condolences, describing the incident as devastating and expressing support for the victims’ families.
The explosion came just hours after J&K police busted a transnational terror network in Faridabad, seizing 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons. Meanwhile, authorities have recovered 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate and additional arms from a Kashmiri doctor’s rented property in Haryana’s Faridabad.
The Delhi blast at the Red Fort metro station has shaken the city and highlighted the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region. Authorities are investigating the incident as the city mourns the victims and works to prevent future attacks.
