Trump will hit the 2026 campaign trail for Republicans, top aide says: ‘Like it’s 2024 again’
Washington — In a recent interview on the YouTube show “The Mom View” hosted by the conservative group Moms for America, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles confirmed that Donald Trump is getting ready to hit the campaign trail again. She said the former president plans to “work very hard to keep for keep the majority” in both chambers of Congress in 2026.
Wiles added that Trump will approach the midterms with a 2024‑style intensity. “I haven’t quite broken it to him yet, but he’s going to campaign like it’s 2024 again,” she told the audience. “All these people that he helps — he doesn’t help everybody — but for those he does, he’s a difference maker, and he’s certainly a turnout machine.”
The chief of staff, who helped orchestrate Trump’s 2024 victory, explained that the strategy will differ from how previous administrations have run midterm contests. Instead of keeping the president out of the equation and focusing on local issues, the plan is to put Trump himself on the ballot. “So many of those low‑propensity voters are Trump voters,” Wiles said.
She highlighted the recent Democratic surge, including the election of socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor, to illustrate why mobilizing the Republican base is crucial. “We saw…what happens when he’s not on the ballot and not active,” she remarked.
In addition, Wiles noted that Trump has already begun fundraising for the upcoming elections, “He started raising money for the midterms the day after the election,” and that the president’s substantial war chest will be deployed to bolster GOP candidates. “He’s sitting on a huge war chest to help these people. And he’ll use it… Nobody can outwork him, so there’s every reason to be confident.”
